This is an on-site role.

Role and responsibilities
  • As a Defectivity Industrialization Architect in the Industrialization Group you will take the lead in defining defectivity performance requirements while supporting the hardware projects, consisting of hardware designers, supplier quality engineers and manufacturing engineers. You will secure product reliability and performance by reducing defectivity /particle related DOA's that impact the lifetime and performance of the ASML EUV source products.
  • You will support resolution of particle contamination issues through, design architecture, design specifications, detailed design reviews, materials analysis, root cause analysis, and structural solving.
  • You will partner with the engineering team to industrialize the product by generating a roadmap linked to a design that can be built at ASML Suppliers and Factory, that meets Quality, Cost, and Logistics requirements....
  • You will ensure that installed base hardware designs meet defectivity specifications in the build phase and in the field. Finally, with your expertise you contribute to the knowledge growth of our group, working together and coaching your team members.

Education and experience

  • BS (required), MS / PhD in Materials Science, Tribology, Surface Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related, with a focus on material behavior
  • Strong background in one or more areas of interest to the Defectivity Project:
    • Materials science and engineering / nanotechnology background
    • Tribology, wear resistance of coatings and materials
    • Plasma physics, electrostatics and materials compatibility
    • Small particle behavior in liquid/gas flows and high vacuum
    • Chemistry of surfaces, intermetallic interaction and vacuum grade cleanliness
    • Chemistry of organic material analysis
  • Experience with instrumentation and interpretation used to study nano-scale particles, such as SEM, EDX, AES, SIMS, AFM, optical/confocal microscopy
  • Basic experience with material behavior predictive modeling and methods, including "first principles" engineering equations and other techniques.
  • Strong skills in proof of concept development and design of experiments for a wide range of project needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and to make practical recommendations.
  • Project management skills with the ability to organize and drive progress with stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to present results based on strong statistical evidence to audiences of a wide range of technical abilities
  • Take direction from ASML System Architects and Senior Engineering mentors who are leading the development effort of critical capital equipment.
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary projects, such as robotics, mechatronics, or optical systems preferred but not required.
  • Be an advocate on behalf of reducing particulate contamination in hardware designs

Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in systems design, with solid theoretical and practical experience with precision machined parts, optics, or mechatronics, preferably in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience with measurement tools and setting up experiments
  • Exposure to multi-disciplinary projects, such as robotics, mechatronics, or optical systems preferred but not required.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $131,625-$219,375. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
