The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the supervisor of site services and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Location: San Diego, CA

Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $34.00

What we're looking for

  • Education: BS Degree in Science preferred or BA or 1 -3 year's experience working in a lab.
  • Experience: 1 year experience working within a laboratory setting
  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
  • Requires knowledge in using various instruments to prepare for and perform tests
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, hands-on, and organized with a strong ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexible, forward-thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independently
  • Able to lift to 25lbs minimum
  • Solid process optimization skills and scientific troubleshooting skills

How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

  • Arrange lab equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and maintain PM tracking software. Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration.
  • Provide basic operating training on common laboratory equipment. Assist with equipment troubleshooting and supplemental resources and writing Work Instructions for equipment based on manuals/documentation provided by the manufacturer.
  • Oversee Help Desk Management Program. Triage/escalate Business Operations related tickets.
  • Aide in obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, and following up with vendors for laboratory, office, and facilities equipment, goods, and consumables.
  • Ensure hazardous and biohazardous materials are correctly handled and stored.
  • Maintain and monitor cryogenic gas and dry ice usage. Support monitoring of cold storage through software systems and upkeep of common lab areas
  • Provide backup support to ensure shipments are received, processed, and recipients notified utilizing package tracking software. Ensure unclaimed packages are properly stored.
  • Support licensee onboarding and offboarding by assisting with laboratory/office preparation and communication with licensees.
  • Notify the Operations Manager of licensee requests for specialty equipment training. Coordinate training.
  • Communicate to the Operations Manager requests for modifications from licensees. Coordinate changes with contractors. Assist with escorting contractors.
  • Provide support to staff, licensees, vendors, and visitors for customer EHS standards adherence.
  • Help with the organization and preparation of Safety Committee meeting materials. Support execution of action items.
  • Accommodate direct and account for persons during evacuations and help the Operations Manager complete incident reports.
  • Support SOP creation and validation.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to prepare the site for inspections within laboratories, facilities, EHS, and security. Monitor completion of corrective actions.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$58,000.00 - $97,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
